Serena Williams hits back at reporter's claim of a "scrappy performance"

A "super-focused" Serena Williams joined sister Venus in the fourth round of the Australian Open Saturday, ruthlessly snuffing out Nicole Gibbs's challenge as she accelerates towards a record 23rd Grand Slam title.

The world no.2 ousted Gibbs, ranked 90 places lower, in just 63 minutes on Rod Laver Arena today with a 6-1 6-3 mauling.

Makarova, the 30th seed, defeated Cibulkova 6-2, 6-7 (7/3), 6-3 in two hours 53 minutes to reach the fourth round.

She has set the tone for the tournament.

"He's going to be there really trying to get me to play at his speed, his rhythm", the third seed said.

'No unusual signs' from North Korea military despite provocative statements
Previously, Trump tweeted, "It won't happen!" about North Korea's race to develop a nuclear weapon to strike the US. North Korea is believed to be able to reprocess plutonium at Yongbyon for nuclear warheads.

Adler was commentating on Williams' second round tie with Stefanie Voegele when he said: "She misses a first serve and Venus is all over her". A quarter-final against Garbine Muguruza is Vandeweghe's reward, and the victor will certainly fancy their chances against Venus Williams or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, as opposed to the standard of the average WTA Grand Slam semi-finalist.

But that's where the similarity ends: Strycova's fourth-round appearance past year at Melbourne Park was her best result here; Williams is a six-time champion.

She will next play either Australian hope Ashleigh Barty, who has returned to tennis after a temporary career switch to cricket, or German qualifier Mona Barthel. Then she went on, I think, to the quarter-finals.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is coming off a straight sets win over Svetlana Kuznetsova that took 18 games to decide.

In 2015 she made a memorable run to the semi-finals, losing to Maria Sharapova, who is serving a drugs ban.

Julio Jones to play in NFC Championship Game
Jones participated in a walk-through session early Wednesday before missing the regular practice. He's second this year with 1,409 yards and fourth in yards per catch.

The world No.2 is hot favourite to defeat the Czech 16th seed, and following the exit of Angelique Kerber on Sunday night, the bookmakers' choice to win the title.

She is bidding for a 10th straight quarter-final-or-better result at grand slams.

"I don't have doubt that his potential is so, so high and I know I have a very tough match, and I need to play my best".

"I have a lot of memories, because I, yeah, won it twice in juniors and was showing some good tennis, as well, also in the pros, but never achieved something, like, big here".

Bank Of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz Gives The Loonie The Body Slam
The effects would be muted due in part to a cut in the US corporate tax rate, which would hurt Canadian export competitiveness. The Bank of Canada is broadly expected to keep interest rates unchanged at 0.5 percent on Wednesday.
