Yes, The Trump Administration Has Taken A Position On Israeli Settlements

Israel's parliament looks likely to approve a controversial bill to retroactively "legalise" illegal Jewish outposts built on privately owned Palestinian land, setting up inevitable confrontation with the global community.

But the far-right Jewish Home party, a member of the coalition looking to draw voters from the traditional base of Netanyahu's Likud, pushed for the legislation after the forced evacuation of 330 settlers last week from an outpost built on private Palestinian land.

Under the new law, settlers could remain on the land if they built there without prior knowledge of Palestinian ownership or if homes were constructed at the state's instruction.

It had initially been uncertain that a vote would take place on Monday, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly said the day before that he wanted to coordinate the matter with US President Donald Trump before it was finalised.

Netanyahu calls on Britain to join new sanctions against Iran
The spokeswoman said Mrs May and Mr Netanyahu also discussed co-operation on cyber-security, innovation and technology. Iran fired a ballistic missile last week. "The prime minister reiterated the UK's opposition to settlement activity".

Israel's attorney general, Avichai Mandelblit, has said the bill violates local and global law and would likely be overturned by the Supreme Court.

The UN Middle East envoy, Nickolay Mladenov, called on Israeli MPs to vote against the law, saying it would "greatly diminish the prospects for Arab-Israeli peace".

Following a Monday meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May, Netanyahu denied he had sought to delay the vote after February 15, when he is set to meet with President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., Haaretz reported. It informed readers that "the Palestinians claim the West Bank, which Israel captured from Jordan in the 1967 war, as part of a future independent state".

Condemned by the Barack Obama administration, the European Union, the United Nations and Israel's attorney general, the law was hailed by the settler movement as a turning point in the 50-year settlement project.

The Taliban and other insurgents are still responsible for most civilian casualties. He called the Afghan forces 'second major perpetrators of civilian casualties.

The Balfour Declaration, which declared "the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people" on November 2, 1917, officially became part of global law when the League of Nations adopted it in 1922. "I am not bothered by this", Netanyahu said.

That admonishment marked the first public disagreement between Trump and Netanyahu, who plans to visit the White House Feb. 15.

Speaking to Israeli reporters on Monday about the contacts with the White House, Netanyahu said: "That requires that we do not surprise our friends and keep them updated - and the American administration has been updated".

"This government is passing a bill that is an acute danger to the State of Israel", lawmaker Isaac Herzog, who opposed the bill, said.

They include images of bullet and knife wounds, burns and injuries resulting from beatings with rifle butts or bamboo sticks. Many Rohingya were reportedly hoping that Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize victor , would work to restore their rights.

If Israel's parliament legislates for the Palestinians - rather than control them by military rule - Palestinians then would have the right to become citizens and vote in Israel, Meridor argued.
