'Dripping' new trend among teens who vape, researchers say

'Dripping' may be a new, dangerous trend for teens who vape

According to research, one in four high school students who have tried e-cigarettes have also tried this new vaping method.

Researchers at Yale University surveyed more than 7,000 teens at eight CT high schools and found that among the 1,080 who report vaping with e-cigarettes, 26% admitted to having tried so-called "dripping" for reasons that include "a stronger throat hit" or "made flavors taste better".

It has grown in popularity because it produces a stronger hit, a thicker cloud of vapor, and increased taste. Dripping may expose users to higher levels of nicotine as well as to harmful non-nicotine toxins, like acetaldehyde and formaldehyde, which are carcinogens.

Electronic cigarettes (ECIGs) electrically heat and vaporize a liquid solution to produce an inhalable nicotine-containing aerosol.

United Nations human rights report details 'brutal' cruelty against Rohingyas by Burmese forces
They include images of bullet and knife wounds, burns and injuries resulting from beatings with rifle butts or bamboo sticks. Many Rohingya were reportedly hoping that Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize victor , would work to restore their rights.

Researchers reviewed survey responses from 1,080 e-cigarette users at eight CT high schools and learned that 26.1 percent had tried dripping.

Story called e-cigarettes an adult product but said he would rather see a teenager use an e-cigarette than a traditional cigarette. Forty per cent said they dripped to get a better flavour and 22 per cent tried it out of sheer curiosity.

The researchers did not assess whether the students added nicotine to the e-liquids used for dripping, or how frequently e-cigarettes were used for dripping.

"Adolescents should not be using nicotine at all", Wilson said. Krishnan-Sarin said a variety of vapor patterns can be produced with thicker clouds, such as "tornadoes and rings".

Fox is also supplying the contribution feed to Verizon for the exclusive rights it has to stream Super Bowl LI to smartphones. Between CBS Sports , Rolling Stone and ABC News , you'll find a ton of commercials that will appear during Super Bowl LI.

Krishnan-Sarin agrees: "What I always tell parents is that we know very little, I think, about the short and long-term effects of e-cigarettes".

The researchers reported their findings in the most recent edition (Feb. 6th) of the journal Pediatrics. "They like that they can do these novel things with them".

Being male, being white, having tried more tobacco products and using e-cigarettes on a greater number of days over the previous month were the traits likely to be associated with dripping. "The FDA has asserted its authority, but now they need to move forward with product standards".

More important, as puffing progresses and liquid is consumed, the temperatures and emissions rise "drastically", Shihadeh said.
