Uber president Jeff Jones quits

Jay-Z's Tidal had three CEOs in eight months

Jeff Jones joined Uber Technologies Inc. less than seven months ago and his departure will thrust the company into deeper turmoil. Instead his concern over problems at the company were to blame. In an email to staff, CEO Travis Kalanick said Jones made the decision to leave following the announcement that Uber meant to hire a chief operations officer (COO).

But Huffington shot down any prospect of Kalanick stepping down: "The board has confidence in Travis, and we are proceeding ahead in the search for the COO". Earlier in March, Kalanick admitted he had to "grow up" after a heated argument with a driver was caught on video.

Hornsey said the search for a chief operating officer is progressing and that Travis Kalanick, Uber's chief executive officer, was interviewing candidates today.

Huffington said the investigation will wrap up at the end of April. Kalanick didn't participate in the conference call. She said there's an "absolute commitment that the findings will be made public and that they will inform all the actions".

The Uber representatives said that the company is meanwhile using other means to oust any toxic elements of the company culture: holding one hundred listening sessions, training employees on "how to be a good ally", updating recruiting descriptions to eliminate "unconscious bias" and pushing back against a "cult of the individual" that had come to define the working environment.
