Donald Trump Lawmaker says White House wrong to withhold intelligence documents

It's a strategy that may be making the challenges more intractable by the hour.

President Donald Trump tweeted that Flynn is facing "a witch hunt". And Trump is warning that his summit next week with the leader of another great power, Xi Jinping of China, could turn into a rocky affair. We're very proud of our ranking member Adam Schiff, who's done a remarkable job.

Schiff also called on the White House to explain why it initially shared the documents with only Nunes, rather than all of the interested parties.

WELNA: Well, today's story is Mike Flynn.

The spectacle of an already dismissed national security adviser seeking legal immunity to testify about a scandal that is raging less than 100 days into an administration is without recent historical precedent.

Flynn - who made headlines at the Republican convention last summer by chanting "Lock her up!" about Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton - apparently is seeking immunity before speaking with investigators, though it is unclear at this stage what kind of information he might have about the inner workings of the Trump campaign or any possible ties to Russian intelligence. Trump wrote on Friday morning.

Simone Bell, Southern regional Director at Lambda Legal added: "Lawmakers replaced a bad bill with another bad bill". Carla Cunningham, D-Mecklenburg, said she viewed her support for HB142 as "a chance for a fresh restart".

'We need people to investigate who actually have an interest in an independent investigation, ' said protester Annaliese Herms, a 23-year-old office worker from Fresno. NBC News has not confirmed those reports. The aim, the report said, was partly created to leave a trail of evidence for government investigators.

Trump used that information to support his unsubstantiated claims from early March that the Obama administration had wiretapped Trump Tower. "All this should be very concerning to people, that people serving in government, who are providing classified information, misused, mishandled, and potentially did some very, very bad things with classified information", he said.

He also said that he answers to nobody but voters, and the issue he briefed Trump on had nothing to do with Russian Federation.

Nunes, who was a member of the president's transition team, has resisted calls to step aside from his committee's investigation into contacts between Trump campaign officials and Russians.

"Michael Flynn, Gen. Flynn is a wonderful man", Trump said.

Flynn, who was forced to resign as national security advisor after reports revealed he misled the White House in terms of his conversations with Russian Federation, has asked the Senate Intelligence Committee for immunity in the investigation.

CNN reported Monday that Nunes met with his source on White House grounds last Tuesday - one day before revealing briefing the press and Trump on his findings.

House intelligence committee's top democrat Adam Schiff was invited to the White House to view the documents the Devin Nunes had been provided last week after reports that White House officials helped give access to the information to Nunes.

Mr. Nunes has known about the unmasking of the private citizens since January, before President-elect Trump kicked off the controversy with his 4 March Tweets alleging that former President Barack Hussein Obama had ordered wiretaps on his telephones in NY during the campaign previous year.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's scientific integrity watchdog is reviewing whether EPA chief Scott Pruitt violated the agency's policies when he said in a television interview he does not believe carbon dioxide is driving global climate change, according to an email seen by Reuters.

Nunes, R-California, last week claimed a secret source had provided him with information suggesting Trump and his associates may have been "monitored" by USA intelligence during the transition. "After Trump was elected, they decided they were going to ruin his presidency by picking them off one by one". "I've never seen behavior this weird on the part of the chairman".
