Trump again blames House Freedom Caucus for failure of health care bill

Deficits don't matter, again: Freedom Caucus leader says tax cuts don't have to be “revenue-neutral”

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said, "We promised that we would repeal and replace Obamacare, and that's exactly what we're going to do".

President Trump pointed fingers on his Twitter account Sunday following the failure of the Republican health care bill. "I'm not going to put a timeline on it because this is too important to not get right and to put an artificial timeline on it".

It was four days ago that Ryan abruptly canceled that vote on the GOP bill annulling much of President Barack Obama's 2010 law.

Republican lawmakers, conservatives and moderates alike, emerged from Tuesday's meeting saying there was a consensus to address the issue again, preferably soon.

Mississippi State plays SC today for the championship of women's Division I college basketball and no, that is not a typo. She had 18 points and 10 rebounds while fellow junior guard Kaela Davis also reached double figures with 10 points.

Rep. Mo Brooks, Alabama Republican and member of the hard-line House Freedom Caucus, told multiple news outlets he planned to file a discharge petition to force a floor vote on straight repeal, if Obamacare isn't dealt with in the coming weeks. Speaker Paul Ryan decided against a House showdown on the bill because he didn't have the 216 votes needed for passage. Using that measure would scuttle the party's separate plans to begin their work overhauling the tax code, which leaders had previously said would rely on a 2018 reconciliation measure.

"After this morning, the resolve of our conference to repeal Obamacare and replace it has never been stronger", House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, said.

"There's no agreement, but everyone in that room is dying to get to yes", said Representative Dave Brat of Virginia, a Freedom Caucus member who met with House moderates.

"I think it's time that the Freedom Caucus work together with other members of the Republican Party, have input, which we did with the Speaker, the president of the United States, and then at the end of the day, compromise to get something done". And they've offered mixed messages on what comes next.

Atlanta Braves set 25-man roster for opening day
With Syndergaard out, Hansel Robles (1-0) threw a flawless seventh and earned the win following the seventh-inning outburst. Syndergaard is now slated to take the mound again on Saturday, in the Mets' fifth game of the season, against the Marlins.

Why? For the simple reason that on January 14, six days before he was sworn in as president, Trump told the Washington Post he was nearing completion of a plan to replace "Obamacare". He wrote that they snatched "defeat from the jaws of victory". It is way past the time that we, as Americans, respect the lives of our seniors, children born with catastrophic diseases, the mentally ill, people with pre-existing illnesses, mothers and all others who are in need of health care but can not afford it.

But the Senate GOP's No. 2 leader, John Cornyn of Texas, showed little appetite to plunge ahead. There's a lot of members that made a commitment to voters ... that they were going to get something done, ' he said. "That's not presidential", he said, "that's petulance". If 24 million people don't get health insurance, 24 million people won't be getting subsidies through Medicaid or through the tax credits.

What should be the future of USA health-care policy? The Senate plans to consider Gorsuch next week. "And that would have allowed for significant tax cuts in any tax reform".

It remains to be seen how all this will affect the president's tax reform agenda. In the past such deadlines have prompted brinkmanship that sometimes led to shuttering agencies.

Trump to sign executive orders targeting trade abuses
Talking to White House reporters, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross insisted that the executive orders were not just about China. Ultimately, it could mean more jobs or job security in American manufacturing, but higher prices on goods across the nation.
