Sergio Garcia wins first major in dramatic playoff at the Masters

Garcia's win at the Masters was his 18th appearance at the tournament.

Rose felt the turning point came on the 13th, when he held a two-shot lead and saw Garcia's pulled drive end up beneath an azalea bush. Rose's playoff tee shot soared deep into trees right of the fairway but bounced out onto pine straw while Garcia found the fairway.

Both players hit it close at the par-3 16th, but Rose rolled in his birdie putt and Garcia missed.

Still, it was easy to sense Spieth's disappointment detailing his miscues after the round while Garcia and Rose were locked in battle that eventually was won by the Spaniard in a playoff.

The winning putt swirled into the cup on the first playoff hole, giving "El Nino" a Masters green jacket and giving the country's golden generation of sports stars a new life.

Trump and May hope to persuade Russian Federation to drop Assad support
In that interview airing Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation", Tillerson said Russians were not targeted by the strikes. He knocked the Obama administration for not responding to Assad's chlorine gas attacks after the deal was in place.

The popular Spaniard - who had seemed destined to be one of golf's almost men - won with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden death play-off after the pair had finished the final round tied on -9. "He deserves it, he's had his fair share of heartache". "So when you aren't able to get the ball up and down out here, or make those key five- to 10-footers, this is what happens". He had a double bogey on the par-4 third hole and could never recover.

He hit wedge to 7 feet and escaped with par.

The two hit classic shots into 18 and then hit forgettable putts.

Along with the happy reflections of the people around him - including Angela Akins, the former Golf Channel reporter he plans to marry in July - that final burst of emotion was thinking about "moments that unfortunately didn't go the way I wanted". But for the most part I'm not going to sit here and second-guess one or two shots.

"I feel like I've finished five or six back the last few years so give me a six-shot start and I'm your man", McIlroy joked.

Leicester skipper Morgan out of Everton trip with back injury
Leicester haven't won back-to-back Premier League games away from home in almost a year - a run of three wins in April 2016. Musa has only started 13 games for the Foxes all season, with seven of those coming in the Premier League.

Garcia birdied the 14th and followed with a brilliant 8-iron off the flagstick at the 15th, setting up an eagle that tied him for the lead.

"It's going to sting for sure", the 36-year-old said.

"I thought Sergio played very composed, played very well, and he played like he wasn't going to be denied - even after he made a couple (of) mistakes", Nicklaus wrote on Twitter.

Garcia is not the first player that endured bad breaks and heartache in the majors before finally winning one. "I didn't just hit the ball up and down or make the putts I needed to".

Pieters was on the verge of contending until he bogeyed the 16th out of a bunker and finished fourth with Matt Kuchar, who aced the 16th. The state of Texas boasts the most Masters champions with 13 wins: Jack Burke (1956), Charles Coody (1971), Ben Crenshaw (1984, 1995), Jimmy Demaret (1940, 1947 and 1950), Ralph Guldahl (1939), Ben Hogan (1951, 1953), Byron Nelson (1937 and 1942) and Spieth (2015).
