Airstrikes on Syria might also send message to North Korea

As a candidate and president, Trump has taken an aggressive posture toward China, labeling Beijing a "tremendous problem" and arguing that lopsided trade deals with China shortchange American businesses and workers.

Speaking after the two-day summit at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also said that Xi had agreed to increased cooperation in reining in North Korea's missile and nuclear programs - though he did not offer any new formula for cracking Pyongyang's defiant attitude.

Analysts had earlier said the strikes contained a clear message for Pyongyang that the USA was not afraid to exercise the military option, and there had been speculation as to how the North would respond.

The missile barrage enhances Trump's image as a leader willing to use USA military power quickly and in a precision-strike manner which is exactly the scenario that concerns North Korea most.

Trump's barnstorming presidential campaign past year appeared to set him on course for conflict with China, which he accused of rigging forex markets and cheating at trade to steal American jobs.

"I think truly progress has been made", Trump said, declaring his relationship with Xi as "outstanding".

As is pretty much any of the guys who will be taken in the top 10, in the event the Browns trade down but stay in the top 10. "I think some of them wanted me to just see if I could get down to that size", Fournette told reporters at the pro day.

The resolution centers on putting a significant cap on North Korea's exports of coal - the country's single biggest export item and source of hard currency.

Xi also hailed military to military exchanges and said China and the United States should "make good use of the dialogue mechanism to be established between the two countries' joint staffs of the armed forces", although Xinhua did not give further details.

Abe on Friday voiced support for air strikes Trump ordered against Syria after Damascus deployed deadly chemical weapons on a rebel-held area earlier in the week.

"The two presidents agreed to elevate existing bilateral talks to reflect the importance of making progress on issues", Spicer said.

"It probably is not realistic for the U.S.to attack North Korea", a Japanese defence ministry source said.

There appeared to be little in the way of concrete achievements during 24 hours in the sun, but officials said that a rapport had been built that will carry on the next four years.

Tillerson said Trump had accepted Xi's invitation to visit China and that they also agreed to upgrade a U.S. Previously, Washington has leaned toward sanctions and pressure to deter North Korea, but comments from US President Donald Trump's top aides at the weekend suggest that position may be hardening.

Trump outraged China in December when he took the unorthodox step of accepting a phone call from the Taiwanese president.

"It's a signal that Trump's administration will not only talk, they will act", said Wang Dong, Associate Professor and Director of the School of International Studies at Peking University.

The highly anticipated U.S.

In Tokyo, the feasibility of USA military action was downplayed, while South Korea said the focus remained on deterrence and readiness.

"We would like to see more results-oriented outcomes coming out of these new dialogues and fewer laundry lists", said Beijing-based Jacob Parker, vice president of China operations at the US-China Business Council, although he added that he saw the meeting as "generally positive" on commercial issues. Liu focused instead on the need for a political solution to the six-year Syrian conflict.

Bayern Munich run over Borussia Dortmund 4-1
Captain Lars Stindl scored the victor nine minutes from time for Gladbach after Cologne had twice come from behind to equalise. Lewandowski stepped up to take the penalty and slotted it home for the 4-1 victory.

North Korea launched a ballistic missile on Wednesday that flew a short distance before spinning out of control and crashing into the sea, the latest of a number of missile tests defying United Nations sanctions.
