Trump attacks "unfair" Canadian dairy industry

Canada's ambassador to Washington said Tuesday night that President Donald Trump is wrong when he says Canada's trade practices in the dairy industry are "very unfair". Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has blamed the Senate for delaying the confirmation of Trump's US trade representative. "This is not free markets, this is protectionism", said Duffy.

New York's senators are pushing to change a Canadian trade policy they say is hurting dairy farmers. The White House says the program undercuts American workers by bringing in large numbers of cheaper foreign workers, which drives down USA wages. South Dakota Dairy Producers Association Executive Director Roger Scheibe says they share the same concern about Canada's milk pricing scheme and are hoping the administration takes action.

"We're going to make some very big changes or we're going to get rid of NAFTA once and for all", he said.
