Dao's attorney's filed an emergency petition on Wednesday asking that "surveillance video, cockpit voice recordings, passenger and crew lists, and personnel files be preserved and protected".

Speaking of his employees, Munoz said: "They all have an incredible amount of common sense, and this issue could have been solved by that".

He added that the feelings of embarrassment were "palpable" for him and his United colleagues.

"We're not going to put a law-enforcement official on to remove a booked, paid, seated passenger", Munoz said in an interview Wednesday with ABC. "We can't do that".

Attorneys representing the man who was dragged off the flight, Kentucky physician David Dao, and a member of the man's family are set to talk about the incident on Thursday.

The three officers who removed Dao have been suspended from their jobs at the Chicago Aviation Department.

Dao, 69, reportedly authored a pair of popular folk songs a half-century ago while living in Vietnam, according to the New York Post. Emirates has targeted the CEO, Oscar Munoz, directly by using a quote from last month against him -Munoz said that Persian Gulf-based airlines "aren't airlines" while criticizing the substantial subsidies they receive from their governments. "But to just randomly say, 'You're getting off the plane, ' that was bad".

"The idea that a man who was physically dragged off the plane, wailing in pain as blood rushed out of his head, was just "re-accommodated" is grotesque", he said.

The video showed blood pouring from the man's mouth as he was dragged off the flight. Passenger videos of the incident show him being dragged from the plane and bleeding from the mouth. Munoz, himself, was forced to make several additional apologies after the company's first attempts failed.

Overbooking is legal, and most airlines do it in anticipation of no-shows, the US Department of Transportation said.
