Press for info on Senate health bill

Obamacare in 2018 Many will pay the price

There is one big catch for progressives: If President Trump and Republican congressional leaders have their way, the GOP health-care bill will be law by the time July 29 rolls around - and some lawmakers are suggesting Republicans stay in Washington until a bill is passed. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., left, and Sen.

Senate Democrats say they're hatching a strategy to put more focus on Republican health-care legislation that polls have shown is unpopular with the public.

"The Senate is working in secret and rushing to pass a bill that will closely mirror the AHCA passed by the House, which strips care from 23 million people, raises costs for millions more and punishes kids, seniors and people with disabilities through steep cuts to Medicaid", Robert Restuccia, executive director of Community Catalyst, added.

As a result of the nearly 50 percent cut in Medicaid spending, many nursing homes would stop admitting Medicaid recipients as well as those (the vast majority) who do not have enough assets to ensure they will not end up on Medicaid. Now that word is out that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and team might cut Medicaid even more deeply than the House bill did, we can either assume that they don't give a shit what Trump thinks, or they're lying to him about their bill.

Like many conservatives, Cruz believes that in order to bring down the cost of health insurance, lawmakers need to repeal as numerous Obamacare-era regulations as possible.

Pro golfer Steve Elkington tweeted that Rory McIlroy must be "so bored playing golf " since Tiger Woods isn't now playing. Or, according to Champions Tour player and 1995 PGA Championship victor Steve Elkington, he's just bored.

Gill acknowledged that congressional Republicans are hoping to pass a bill before the summer recess even starts and that "the situation's not looking great". The NRSC says the event was planned to benefit the election campaign of Sen.

"Republicans are drafting this bill in secret because they're ashamed of it, plain and simple", Schumer said.

Democrats object to closed-door meetings that Republicans have held in recent weeks to craft legislation to replace Obamacare, formally known as the Affordable Care Act.

They include Dean Heller of Nevada and Jeff Flake of Arizona, both up for re-election next year, as well as Rob Portman of Ohio, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana.

Democrats are weighing a strategy to get more public attention on the debate in the next two weeks, said Matt House, spokesman for Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY, but he declined to discuss details.

Facebook taps artificial intelligence in new push to block terrorist propaganda
Britain's interior ministry welcomed Facebook's efforts but said technology companies needed to go further. Some experts criticized it as a drop in the bucket considering how much content Facebook's users share.

Changes to Medicaid spending and the House bill's tax credit structure have led to particularly intense disagreements between conservative and moderate members.

"I mean I learn more from you all", she said to reporters.

That's not going to happen in the Senate where non-expansion Republicans have argued that Medicaid-expansion states shouldn't be allowed to keep more federal money.

McConnell, R-Ky., has been under criticism, including from some fellow Republican senators, for writing the Senate version behind closed doors.
