Rare Two-Year UK Parliamentary Session

The Prime Minister will hold the meetings at Downing Street

The government says the two-year parliament will give time to MPs to consider legislation needed for Brexit, starting with the Great Repeal Bill which converts existing European Union law into United Kingdom statute, and ensure a smooth transition. When will MPs vote on the Queens Speech?

The so-called Queen's Speech, prepared by ministers and read out by the monarch, will spell out the policies May's government intends to pursue over the next two years.

The Queen's Speech was also dropped in 2011 under David Cameron's then-coalition government.

First the government needs to get a Brexit deal that "commands maximum public support", she said.

The PFS said without a majority government it is going to be hard to make decisions over issues such as the funding of social care and the state pension.

Justices say law on offensive trademarks is unconstitutional
The Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) denied the band's request for a trademark, finding their name could offend Asians. A federal appeals court in Washington later said the law barring offensive trademarks is unconstitutional.

She added that her government was one "with goal", which was determined to deliver the best Brexit deal, to create a stronger economy and fairer society, committed to keeping the country safe and "bringing our United Kingdom closer together".

But the decision is also a tacit admission of some of the parliamentary battles ahead: ditching the Queen's Speech for 2018 means the Government will avoid having to push through another vote on its legislative programme at the height of Brexit negotiations - and possibly tensions.

In the same statement, the government said it will aim to address the "deep-rooted inequalities in our society" following the deadly Grenfell Tower fire, which British police said on Saturday has likely claimed the lives at least 58 people.

Warning of an "unprecedented" threat from terrorism in the wake of attacks at Westminster, Manchester and London Bridge, Mrs May announced a review of counter-terrorism strategy to make sure police and security services have "all the powers they need to protect our country".

The Queen's Speech is delivered to the throne by the Lord Chancellor in a special silk bag.

What you should know about apprenticeships, Trump's answer to the skills gap
That's when Walker told Trump at a Republican presidential debate that the country didn't need an apprentice in the White House. He said he recommended to the administration that all apprenticeships be registered, but Trump's order does not require it.

The agreement should protect the Government from being brought down by a vote of no confidence, but they will have to agree other issues on a vote-by-vote basis. The state opening took place only days after another huge annual event, Trooping the Color, a celebration of the queen's birthday.

In the afternoon, Parliament goes back to work, with each house meeting separately to begin debating the content of the speech.

"The election result was not the one I hoped for, but this government will respond with humility and resolve to the message the electorate sent", May said.

The PM's official spokesman was unable to say if the Salisbury Convention continues to apply if the Government is not bound by the manifesto.
