As Trump Bullies Over Border Wall, Mexico Offers Aid for Harvey Victims

Congressman Steve King

President Donald Trump Sunday renewed his pledge to make Mexico pay for a border wall between the U.S and Mexico, days after threatening to trigger a government shutdown if congressional Republicans don't include funding as they take on a spending bill due September 30.

At a rally in Phoenix last Tuesday, President Trump reaffirmed his pledge to build a wall on the U.S. -Mexico border while threatening Congress at the same time.

It's unclear why Trump continues to insist that Mexico will pay for his wall when America's southern neighbor has made it amply clear, on several occasions, that it has no intention of doing so.

In the middle of the hurricane, Trump tweeted: "With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL".

The president said that "we are both in a little bit of a political bind" but that he knew the funding would work out "somehow" and "come out in the wash".

"The Mexican Government reiterates that [drug trafficking] is a shared problem that will only end if its root causes are addressed: high demand for drugs in the United States and supply from Mexico (and other countries)".

"Mexico will not negotiate NAFTA, nor any other aspect of the bilateral relationship, through social media or any other news platform", the ministry said.

He also suggested he would follow through on previous threats to pull the USA out of the trade pact he called the "worst deal ever made".

Jayson Tatum Was 'Sticking Point' In Cavs, Celtics Talks
With the Cavs' regular season set to open October 17, when they will host the Celtics , the team chemistry building has begun. Meanwhile, the Nuggets and the Suns both had attractive assets that could have convinced Cleveland to trade Irving.

The foreign ministry said the battle against illicit drug trade can most effectively be fought "only on the basis of the principles of shared responsibility, teamwork, and mutual trust will we be able to overcome this challenge".

Trump had several times promised Mexico would pay for the wall, but Mexico has so far refused.

While refuting Trump's wall claim, the foreign ministry added in its statement that it had offered help to the US government in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
