The Independence Cup featuring Pakistan cricket team and World XI seems to have paved the way for full-scale revival of cricket in the country as West Indies cricket team is next to visit Pakistan.

The 14-member team and its one official were driven to the Allama Iqbal Airport amid tight security and the entire route was guarded by the law enforcement agencies.

Recently, the World XI also played three T20s in Lahore with the host side clinching the series by 2-1.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson called the matches an "important stepping stone" for Pakistan to earn the "confidence of the global sporting community".

"I would not hesitate to come to Pakistan again if given the opportunity in the future", he promised.

Pakistan cricket Board arranged separate rides for the two star players in "rickshaws" as soon as the Pakistan innings was completed during the match.

Former New Zealand batsman Grant Elliott, part of the World XI squad on Pakistan tour on Friday said that the security arrangement is "amazing" and hoped to see the return of Test cricket to the country.

The charged crowd repeated chanted slogans in recognition of their meritorious services for the Pakistan cricket.

"They were so pleased, saying thank you, and they were so excited by the players being there".

That the series went down smoothly without any incident is a testament to the efforts put in by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the ICC.
